Ohio Magazine is currently seeking a Fall editorial intern in its Columbus office. The ideal candidate is entering his/her junior or senior year and is a journalism, communications or English major. Recent grads are welcome to apply as well.
This is an unpaid, part-time internship during the Fall/Winter. Preference will be given to interns that qualify for college credit. We are seeking candidates that are available 8-10 hours per week. Scheduling and hours are flexible. The internship, even though it includes actual operation of the facilities of Ohio Magazine, is similar to training which would be given in an educational environment.
Intern duties include fact checking and researching stories and listings, copy editing and writing short feature stories. We are looking for this to be a meaningful professional development opportunity for the candidate we select.
Other learning opportunities include: participating in editorial meetings and learning the process of assigning content/managing freelance writing.
We are looking for a student with strong attention to detail, writing skills, knowledge of AP style and spelling, punctuation, grammar and phone skills. Candidates also should possess a strong work ethic, be punctual and reliable.
